03The honest part

When TherapyNotes is the better choice.

No product is right for everyone, and a comparison page that pretends otherwise is not worth reading.

  • 01

You need an independent attestation covering the AI itself. TherapyNotes states that TherapyFuel has earned an AI-focused HITRUST certification. Congruent holds no SOC 2 or HITRUST certification today and says so plainly on our security page. If a third-party certification of the AI layer is a requirement for your practice — and for some it reasonably is — that one is theirs, not ours.

  • 02

You value a long operating history above everything else. TherapyNotes has been serving behavioral health practices for many years and has the support organization and reliability record to show for it. We are new. If that trade matters more to you than the monthly bill, take it seriously.

  • 03

Your practice depends on workflows built specifically around their billing operation and you have staff already fluent in it. Switching costs are real, and they are not only financial.

  • 04

You want phone support as a first-class channel. TherapyNotes advertises 24/7 phone and email support; we are a small team and cannot match that today.

04Switching questions

What people ask before they move.

How much cheaper is Congruent than TherapyNotes?

For a solo clinician who wants AI documentation and integrated video, the comparison is $20 a month against roughly $124 once the AI note assistant and premium telehealth are added to the $69 base plan. Over a year that is a difference of more than $1,200 for one clinician.

Can I import my TherapyNotes charts?

Yes. We migrate client demographics, chart history, past notes, treatment plans, and scheduled appointments at no charge, and we do it before you cancel so you can verify nothing is missing while both systems are still live.

Does Congruent handle insurance billing as well?

On the Practice plan at $29 per clinician per month, yes: electronic 837P claims, real-time eligibility checks, ERA and EOB auto-posting, and denial worklists. Claims are $0.40 each from the first one, and that price includes ERA posting and eligibility checks.

How billing works →
Is a newer EHR a risk for a practice that has to keep records for years?

It is a fair concern and the honest answer is that you should never let any vendor hold your record hostage. Congruent lets you export complete charts, signed notes, and treatment plans in standard formats at any time, at no charge, without filing a request. Evaluate every vendor on how easily you could leave, including us.
